Something Very Odd

Has anyone ever had an experience like this? I've never heard of it but I expect someone somewhere has. As briefly as I can : My husband and I were woken by the phone ringing early one morning. His son had been rushed to hospital after overdosing on a mixture of ecstasy and speed in a nightclub. The damage was too great for him to survive he was told. It was a Sunday, we had no transport and the hospital was too far away to get to. My husband was distraught, but very angry, I was just shaking. During the morning my husband phoned the hospital to see if anything had changed, but was told they were very sorry but he definitely wouldn't survive. Later that morning my husband had to go out leaving me in the house alone. I started hoovering briskly to take my mind off what was going on, when this strange feeling came over me, I was getting slower and slower, and so tired it felt as if someone was forcing my eyelids shut. I turned off the hoover and slumped down onto the sofa. As soon as my head touched the cushions my eyes shut and although I was aware that I was at home on the sofa, immediately inside my head I was floating somewhere grey. There was nothing, no up nor down, no sound just a grey nothingness. Suddenly I saw a movement and my stepson came floating down a tunnel towards me with his arms stretched out in front of him. I caught hold of his hands and held on for a few seconds then he slipped through and went on past me heading towards a long darker grey tunnel with a spinning vortex of silvery grey light in the distance. I came over all panicky and thought No! As he went by I noticed he was wearing a baggy sweatshirt, the tail of which was flapping as if in a breeze. I made a grab for it and caught some of the fabric in one hand. It started to slip through again then I got a hold with both hands and he jerked to a halt. I was then able to haul him back hand over hand like when you pull on a rope. Suddenly everything faded out, I was able to open my eyes again and my energy returned. My husband came home shortly after and I told him what had happened. I said either he's gone, or he's going to recover, but I've got a good feeling that he's going to be alright. That evening my husband rang the hospital and said that he was enquiring about his son. A nurse asked him to wait while she checked and a couple of minutes later a weak voice said "Hello Dad." We both started crying. We managed to get to the hospital on the Monday or Tuesday and both agreed we'd not mention anything about what I'd seen. The boy was propped up in bed when we went in. We said hello then we all three of us went silent, not knowing what to say. The boy stretched out his hand and I sat there holding it. Suddenly he said "I was floating somewhere grey. There was someone already there waiting for me and they caught hold of my hands. Then I floated away down this long grey tunnel and felt someone grab me. I slipped away again and headed off down the tunnel and they grabbed me again, I jerked to a halt then they reeled me in like a kite." My husband and I looked at each other, and thought something like "Good Heavens, how weird" or words to that effect that I can't put here. I said that he'd been very ill and the brain can do really odd things when you've been as ill as that. He sustained lasting damage as none of his organs function at 100% but he lives in his own flat, has girlfriends and holds down a job and hopefully has never and will never touch drugs again.
What I don't understand though is why I had that experience. If someone was going to I'd have thought it would have been his parents, or someone who was a blood relative at least. I've felt or seen relatives of mine pass which I can understand as we share brain and other body cells so if I feel possibly what they are feeling as they pass it is not surprising, but I can't explain this. I don't for moment imagine that I have any sort of power to bring someone back from passing over. If it was his time he'd have gone and nothing would have brought him back. It was just a very strange experience that's all.
Any ideas, anyone? My husband and I have puzzled about this for many years
