SIgns of Spirit?
My first post here. I'm clairsentient and also see spirit in my mind. I've heard that spirit can interfer with electronics etc, so could the smoke alarm in our house going off many times when my partner steps underneath it to go to bed be spirit? it doesn't happen to me and only when my other half goes to bed, not throughout the day.
I've been av avid Fate and Fortune reader for six years, and have become more psychic the past ten years, and go to a Spiritualist Church every week.
Best wishes to all
Steve
Hi Steve
I've not had smoke alarms going off, but I've heard of other people having electrical disturbances. I don't know if it a sign that spirit is around, but have been told that people who are psychic in some way can affect electrical appliances and machinery. Can you wear a watch for instance or do you get odd effects when using calculators? I can't wear a wrist watch, I've ruined so many over the years that I just carry one in my handbag now, and the battery has lasted over a year. If I wear one the battery is flat within a couple of weeks at most (although I did have a non battery driven one that the hands were just whizzing round on) if it is a digital one I'm told I drain the liquid crystal in the display. I was sooo embarrassed with that one. I took it to the jewellers to have a new battery fitted, and it still didn't work so he took it away and had a consultation with some of the others working in the back of the shop and all came up with the conclusion that somehow I had drained the crystal. I felt a right idiot, and left quickly very red in the face. I also sometimes affect pocket calculators and end up with some weird displays. If I walk past someone using one of those industrial sized calculators I can sometimes affect it as well. I worked in a factory as a teenager, packing pills. Briefly you filled up a hopper with pills which fed onto a turntable and then passed over an electronic 'eye' which counted them into bottles and sent them down a conveyor belt to have cotton wool, then a screw top put on them. You could see red lights going round as the pills were being counted, but sometimes if I went near the eye the lights on it would whizz round so fast the funnels would block up. It only ever happened to me. I seem to generate a lot of static, no matter what I wear, in the factory we had to wear cotton, but it still didn't stop me getting shocks from machinery despite having earthing rods put on. I don't know if is the static that does it. I've got a shock from people as well, I kissed a relative on the cheek and got a crackling noise, and we both jumped back, another time I was helping my husband unload a couple of guitars from the boopt of a friend's car when my hand inadvertently brushed against the hand of one of the other guys who was helping unload. He shouted out "Oh my God what on earth was that!" I said "It's just static." He told me that a strange sensation had travelled all the way up his arm into his shoulder. "He said "Oh it's weird". " It's not, it's just static" I said. I get really embarrassed when people start thinking I'm odd.
Have you heard about people who affect street lights? There is a name for them, but I can't remember what it is. I saw a programme once where they filmed people walking along a street and every light they went past dimmed or flickered or went out altogether momentarily as they passed by.
Have you seen spirit from childhood or is it something that has come on as an adult? Or has it been triggered by someone's passing perhaps?
Glad you are getting along OK at the Spiritualist Church, I know a lot of people enjoy it. Friends of mine go quite often, I went with them once but felt it wasn't for me. The week I went the medium picked out those who hadn't been before and came round to them with a microphone when she got to me she said "She could feel a lot of fear and panic and difficulty speaking" I said "I know, I hate having to speak in front of a load of people, especially when I don't know them!" I've always been told I have an odd voice, and I can develop a stutter when I get nervous. So I'm not doing that one again, thank you very much! I am a shy person and hate drawing attention to myself, so I could have crawled away under the seats I was so embarrassed. I've seen spirits since I was about 1 or 2 and although it used to terrrify me then, I'm quite happy seeing my Mum and great and 2 x great grandmothers during meditation or when they choose to appear.
Best wishes

Hi Rozanna
Thanks for your interesting reply. No, I don't have trouble with watches, however computers are a different matter, they freeze, shut down and do all sorts of weird and wonderful things. I have only sensed and seen spirit in my mind for the past five years. I've had an interest in tarot for ten years and bought a pack in 1999, and found it fascinating. The whole Spiritual issue however happened quite by chance. I started seeing flashing lights every morning when I got up, and after ruling out lights from passing cars etc, thought that it might be Spirit. So, I started saying "Good morning" to it, and asking questions just to see if it flashed again, which it did. I then asked Angels and my Spirit Guide to come into my life, and immediately I started to feel a tickling around me, sometimes like a fan blowing on me at regular times throughtout the day. I have seen my Spirit Guide in my mind, and my late Grandfather.
Hi Steve
Glad you found that interesting. Talking of computer problems, I've just had to contact F&F for the second time in as many weeks as I couldn't reply to some messages, yours included. I wasn't getting a 'Reply" option, then it was showing that I'd replied about 4 seconds ago, when I'd tried to yesterday, then it showed that I'd replied but it wouldn't appear amongst the other replies, and was showing that you had 21 replies but I could only read about 4 or 5. Last week I was replying to everything twice as it was somehow generating a duplicate copy each time. Computers! AAAArgh!!! I get weird stuff at work as well - more than he others in the same office do. Don't know if it's me generating too much static again. I've got a piece of an amethyst geode on my computer at work after reading that it can help which it does a bit, but I still get an awful lot of weird stuff.
I see people during meditation classes, but don't recognise many of them. Mum I sometimes see externally. Although I'm amazed every time it happens, the first time was almost undescribable. I was in bed, it must have been about 1 or 2 in the morning, my husband was snoring beside me - I couldn't sleep. Suddenly I saw a shaft of white light on the door of my wardrobe (which happens when a car goes down the road, but it seemed to be there for a long time instead of moving across the door then across the ceiling before disappearing as the vehicle moved on down the road.) Instead it got brighter, and started to take on some shape (I thought I'd left a dress or a shirt on the hook on the door because it definitely semed to be wearing something with long sleeves), then suddenly it formed a column of bright white light and moved itself to stand right beside me in bed, the light by then was so bright but I could look directly at it without it hurting my eyes. Then Mum came out of the light and leaned over the bed and kissed my face. I wondered if I tried to hug and kiss her back my hands would go straight through, but they didn't - she was solid enough for me to return the hug and kiss. When I elbowed my husband awake with excited shrieks of "I've just seen Mum!!" he hadn't been aware of anything at all. I've seen Mum quite a lot since then (in dreams or during meditation though nothing as spectacular as this). When I had a telephone reading a couple of months after this the medium picked up on this and said it wasn't my imagination, it was her who leaned over the bed and kissed my face. I have dreams about her as well, sometimes we meet in a room in an old house, it has stone-set windows with pointed arches and scrubbed wooden floors, but there is no furniture. We walk around arm in arm just chatting until it is time for her to return. We kiss and hug each other, and one time I asked her if I could see where she is now. She replied "Well, you can have a look, but you won't be able to come in." "OK" I said. So we walked to the far wall of the room where there was a door which Mum opened. A great shaft of bright white light came out, she held the door open for me and as she crossed the threshold the light cleared and I could see fields and fields full of bluebells and yellow primroses, and woodlands with the trees in full leaf. It looked really beautiful and I knew she was happy there. She has told me she is with her grandmother and great grandmother, who brought her up until she was about 7 or 9 years old. After a while the light came back down and obscured the scenery again and the door closed. At which point I woke up. I love seeing her and my 2 x great grandmother who I've only ever seen in spirit. Also I've sometimes seen Mum in the mirror as I've walked past, I'm sure it was her, although I kept walking past at different speeds and at different angles to see if I could reproduce the effect, but it wasn't me I was seeing, as her hairstyle and clothes were different. Don't know what it all means, but it is certainly fascinating.
I daily sense spirit around me but never know who it is,despite asking many times. Maybe I'm not meant to know, but to just know someone is there. Some months after my mum passed over we were watching the tv for the local news, and by mistake the studio broadcast the local news of another region, however the name of the Newsreader was Kate which was my mums name. A coincidence maybe, or............
hi steve are you the steve that was my pen pal 2 years ago ? you replied to my pen pal addy? if not sorry just got a feeling it was you. the man I knew lived with his daughter xx
Hi and thanks for your message. It wasn't me who was your penpal. Always good to discuss Spiritual matters with like-minded.
Hi, firstly I thought I would just point out a possible explanation for doorbells going off on their own - ants!! We have had this problem quite a bit in the past where the doorbell goes off by itself on occasion, and after a while it stops working altogether - twice we took the bell apart and found it stuffed to the brim with squashed ants!! (I am not a skeptic by the way - just my experience on that one!)
I would like to know though if other people have experience of light bulbs blowing out frequently? Every house I have lived in, especially the one I am living in now, I have had this problem, particularly when I am having a few days of really thinking deeply about spirtiual stuff. They flicker and dip from time to time aswell; on christmas eve I kept asking for a sign my Mum was with us in my mind and they flickered all evening, was it a sign?
Also electrics tripping when turning on a light etc - I've experience this a lot in different houses too - is that normal? Computers went crazy around me when I was a teenager - in fact I failed IT miserably as a result, as I could never get any work done in the practical lesson time - nothing would work, and the printers would very often print binary code or just a series of random letters/numbers/punctuation marks!! I don't have this problem at all now though, in fact I'm very good with computers now.
I did have a very creepy experience when I was working in a nursing home as a teenager. An old male resident had passed away, he was deeply sad about the loss of his wife and died nearly to the day a year later; he had literally died of a broken heart the poor old soul.
However, very soon after his death (which was rather undignified, and sad - I was unfortunate enough to witness) the room he used to occupy started to take on a uncomfortable atmosphere; the hairs on the back of you neck would stand up, and you would get the feeling of someone watching when you entered. Then, the door would be open when left closed, closed when left open, the TV in the room came on by itself, and I am sure some other things but I can't recall them now.
I was seeing to a resident in the room opposite this one, and when I had finished I came out and heard some noise coming from the empty room. I went inside and found the TV on despite the fact it definitely wasn't on when I first passed the room to see to the other resident, and nobody could have sneaked in the room and turned it on as the door of the room I was in was wide open; I would have most definitely seen and heard them. When I went in the room and turned the TV off, the atmosphere was so heavy I thought I would faint - it felt terrible. The only way I can describe it is like having a head covered in cotton wool, and sensing that any moment I would turn around and see spirit. My heart was beating so fast!
The Matron of the home decided enough was enough and called in a medium a while later. According to her, the man who passed away was troubled as there were rumours amongst the staff (not that I had heard) that his Daughter had helped him to die, and he was concerned as this was not true, and he wanted to make sure the rumours stopped. The activity did certainly stop after the medium visited, and we were told by the Matron not to discuss this outside the home, for fear of damaging the reputation of the place.
It wasn't a great nursing home to say the least, and I had heard other stories from staff members about sightings of spirit and other such activity. The place no longer exists now, and has been replaced by a block of flats, best thing for it I think!
As I've mentioned before, computers go haywire when I use them now. I know this is because I'm developing spiritually and am fine with this, I just ask the Angels to calm my energy down so it doesn't adversely affect electronics. This sometimes works. Recently though, shop alarms have gone off both when I've entered and left stores, causing me embarrassment. It's happened in two stores. I would be interested in seeing my own aura now!
Hi Steve
You're still having 'fun' with computers then?
I stopped a till from working in a supermarket. I was stood there with my husband and the scanner wouldn't work. "I bet that's the wife" he said helpfully to the assistant. "She makes electronic stuff go wrong." "Thanks!" I said. But I moved away from the till and on it came. I doubt it was me, but it's not happened since, although I have managed to block automatic doors a few times I think. I was standing outside our local Tesco Express (a mini version of the big store) just chatting to someone I hadn't seen for ages, we were quite a few feet away from the doors when I noticed about half a dozen people standing in front of the doors wating for them to open. The doors weren't moving, and I thought that can't be me surely, but I moved away and open they came. I've had it happen a couple of times coming out of a supermarket as well, and had a few people queuing up behind me, I stepped aside and hey presto the doors opened. I still can't believe it was me. I don't know much about electronics. "Is there a certain area you can stand in that would stop whatever electrical fields or something that make the doors function?" I know I affect computers (when I'm at work I always seem to get more weird problems than anyone else) and calculators (plug in or pocket ones) but supermarket doors? Nah! I'm not convinced, there must be a rational explanation. You're right though, it is very embarrassing. People were looking at me and I said "Er, sorry!) and moved away quickly, rather pink in the face.
I find it really interesting about the date on your smoke alarm and the tv switching to another regional channel with a presenter called Kate on all coinciding with your mums date of birth and her name.i would take it as a reasurance that she's still there looking out for you in spirit. Its very strange the smoke alarm keeps going off when your partner steps underneath it,could there maybe be something more to that? (or maybe she has a high electro magnetic field?)
I have had a few things happen with electronics playing up in my house involving our mobile phones, our cd player,my pc speakers doing things that they shouldnt and my computer crashes and freezes alot as well but my pc crashing i've always put that down to me having a slow not so good one lol.im sure however with you thats probably not the case or cause.i would like to comment further on my gadgets going haywire but im currently having an article related to this and other things happening in my home being worked on for the F&F magazine and hope our story facinates the readers,Steve i've also just explained to one of the editors that when you write about such eventful and unusual experiences, theres that sense of fear you get of being branded 'Cream crackers/insane' by more sceptical people who never experience anything paranormal.I've spent what feels like a lifetime being scared to share the things that have happened around me for that very reason so i understand where you're coming from, although i never feel less phased with each experience i have and feel a bit easier talking about them to like-minded people such as the F&F readers :)
