Hi all,

I think I'm really showing my age when i write this, but i really struggle to read threads that are written in 'text speak' and not full words. I can generally understand misspelled words but it takes me twice as long to decipher a thread written in 'text speak'. Please can people try to write in words, I may be able to answer some questions if i can.

sorry for being a grump.

Text Speak

Hi Melanie

I don't know how old you are (I'm 58 this year) but I can't understand text speak either.  My husband grumbles at me about it sometimes.  I don't think it has a lot to do with age, as he's 64 this year and he sends texts all the time and has no problem at all.  Maybe there's a text speak course somewhere for us 'older people'.  I can just about manage to use my mobile phone to be quite honest and that's only because hubby has programmed in the most used numbers for me.

Regards

Rozanna

text speak

I agree wholeheartedly, I'm 57, and hate to see bad spelling, no capital letters, etc., but text speak leaves me feeling very old. I'm sure it's just laziness. But then I don't know how to text anyway.

Like Rozanna, I can just about use my mobile phone.

Text speak

Is it text speak or is it just bad spelling? I can text but know I'm only supposed to write like that when I'm texting.

For what it's worth, I'm 27 and I hate text speak. I cross every i and dot every t! I'm a teacher so I guess it's a habit to spot these things!!
