Mediums and Healers Lives

Do you need to have had a serious or life threatening illness, suffer from some complaint, been in a violent relationship or have a lot going wrong in your life to be a medium or healer.  It's just that it seems to me that a high proportion of mediums and healers seem to be like this.  The majority of the ones in Fate and Fotune seem to have suffered traumatic events in their lives and there's very few it seems to me who haven't.  For example I have a couple of friends who are healers, one a crystal healer, the other working through the Spiritualist Church and one has had several accidents one in which she almost died and broke a lot of her bones and damaged internal organs and suffers from permanent head pains that prescription painkillers will deaden a certain amount but she is in constant pain, she's also had cancer, twice I think.  The other is disabled after an accident because a bone graft to her leg didn't work properly, she's always having minor accidents, she has viral fatigue, some form of ME, a thyroid problem, is borderline diabetic, she had cancer years ago, she has problems with her offspring, her Mother is ill and has moved in with her and her husband.  They had problems with the builders who were doing the extension for her Mum to move into, problems with the 2nd lot who took over, her husband has post traumatic stress from the Army, and it seems that nearly every time I see her something else has gone wrong.  Why?  They are both lovely ladies who will help anyone, yet all they seem to get are problems of one sort or another.  You're afraid to ask "How are you" sometimes in case there have been another catalogue of disasters.  It certainly puts you off becoming a medium.
